About the event
Black Hikers Week: Detroit Rooted in Motion is a week-long outdoor and community experience presented by Hike & Dine Events, created to celebrate community, wellness, culture, and Black people outdoors through hiking, travel, connection, education, and shared experiences across Metro Detroit and beyond.
This year’s experience begins in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with our opening adventures to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Tahquamenon Falls, followed by a full week of community-centered activities, wellness experiences, outdoor education, and cultural celebration throughout the Detroit area.
Throughout the week, expect a mix of in-person and virtual experiences, including:
Scenic group hikes in and around the Detroit metro area
Educational spotlights on Black hikers and outdoor history
"Wellness Wednesday-"centered moments and intentional gatherings
