Last year we brought Black history to life in Detroit… and this year we’re taking it even further.
Introducing Steps of Legacy: A Hike & Dine Freedom Trail Experience — our official annual Black History Month hike, rooted in culture, community, and legacy. We’ll be returning to Detroit to complete the FULL Michigan Freedom Trail this time, turning our steps into purpose and our day into a true experience.
Expect an easy, fun, and knowledgeable urban hike filled with powerful stops, meaningful conversations, and gems dropped throughout the day that will stay with you long after we’re done walking. We’ll wrap the experience with dinner at a Black-owned diner, plus a special visit to one of Detroit’s most influential cultural museums, because Black history deserves more than just a moment… it deserves to be felt.
Come dressed for the culture ❤️💚🖤 Rock your red, black, and green, pull out your Ankara, or even bring that Black Panther-inspired energy. Let’s step out, walk with purpose, and celebrate who we are.
Also, if you own a Black-owned business, we’d love for you to bring something that represents what you do.. Business cards, samples, flyers, products, or anything you’d like to share with the group! Let’s support, connect, and keep the love circulating within the community.
This isn’t just a hike. This is a tradition that we’re kicking up a notch from last year.
