How We Use AllTrails to Plan, Navigate, and Conquer Every Hike at Hike & Dine Events.

At Hike & Dine, we don’t just show up to a trail and hope for the best. Every hike we host, whether it’s a local stroll through Metro Detroit or an out-of-state adventure, is intentional. A big part of how we make that happen is by using AllTrails as one of our main trail-planning tools.
AllTrails helps us figure out where to hike, how far to go, and what kind of experience the trail will offer before we ever lace up our boots. We use it to preview routes, check mileage and elevation, and make sure the trail aligns with the vibe of the event, whether that’s beginner-friendly, scenic and social, or a little more challenging.
Before EVERY hike, we review the trail details so we know what to expect and can properly communicate that to our community. During the hike, we use AllTrails to follow the route in real time, track our progress, and stay on course. This is especially helpful when we’re hiking somewhere new or traveling out of state, where trails may be unfamiliar to most of the group.
We also encourage our hikers to use AllTrails alongside us. It allows everyone to move at their own pace while still feeling confident and connected. You can see how far you’ve gone, how much is left, and where you are on the trail at any moment. That added layer of awareness helps people feel more comfortabl, especially first-time hikers or those getting back into outdoor activity.
Another reason we love using AllTrails is the ability to look back. Our AllTrails page acts like a digital trail journal, showing the routes we’ve already conquered and the places we’ve explored together. It’s a great way for new members to see what we’ve done and for returning hikers to relive some of their favorite moments on the trail.
AllTrails is about way more than just navigation for us. It’s about preparation, safety, and accessibility. It helps us lead responsibly, educate our community, and create experiences that feel organized without feeling rigid. Whether you’re hiking with us locally, joining us on a travel experience, or heading out on your own, it’s one of the tools we genuinely recommend.
If you haven’t already, we highly encourage you to download AllTrails and start exploring the trails the same way we do. You can follow along with our hikes, track your own progress, and build confidence with every step.
This is one of the many ways we stay intentional about how we move, where we go, and how we build community... one trail at a time.
